After 13 years as a professional plasterer, I decided I wanted to branch out and offer a more artistic service to my existing and prospective clients. I took up extensive training with Stucco & Stucco and perfected the fine art of designing, creating and mastering Venetian Decorative Plastering and Liquid Metal finishes. Soon after, Cheshire Wall Designs was born.

Venetian Plaster, also known as Italian Plaster, Marble Plaster, Venetian Stucco, Marmorino or Polished Plaster, is a natural material made from slaked lime and crushed marble which can be coloured with natural pigments and applied to interior and exterior walls and ceilings, including curved surfaces like columns and archways.
One of the oldest building materials known to man, there is evidence of the use of lime plaster as far back as 9500 years ago in Asia. It was also used extensively by The Romans and in the Republic of Venice during The Renaissance.
Like regular plaster it is applied over a primer and base coat but in multiple, thin layers using specialist tools. Up to ten coats were applied in the past but modern technology means that now only around 1-4 coats are required. For the final coat a wet polishing technique is used to burnish the surface and create a magnificent smooth or textured surface with high shine and the illusion of depth.
Hard and durable, even in humid environments, hypoallergenic, mould and fungi proof it creates a stunningly beautiful and highly prestigious decorative effect in a contemporary or classic style enriching colour and bringing warmth to walls and ceilings with a range of textures, sheens and colours.
Sometimes referred to as fake marble, it is a fraction of the weight of real marble so is ideal for areas where real marble cannot be used or for projects where the cost of real marble is outside the budget.
Left unburnished Venetian Plaster has a matt finish which is rough and gives a stone-like effect which is less durable and susceptible to damage.
